To take this back a little further, in 1860, Conrad Hite, age 16, was living in Garden Grove Township, Decatur County, Iowa in the household of John Vail (age 32, born Ohio) and Martha M. Vail (age 31, born Ohio). The only other Hite household in Decatur County (High Point Township) that year was this one:
James I. Hite, age 39, born Pennsylvania Margaret Hite, age 36, born Ohio Hannah Hite, age 8, born Ohio John R.W. Hite, age 6, born Iowa Samuel T.B. Hite, age 4, born Iowa Isaac T. Hite, age 1, born Iowa
I know that James and Margaret also lived in Chautauqua County, Kansas later along with at least some of these children.I specifically remember seeing Samuel T.B. Hite in the records there. One would be tempted to jump to the conclusion that Conrad B. Hite was an older son of James I. Hite by a previous marriage, but I doubt that.I think James was otherwise related, perhaps Conrad's uncle. It's worth pursuing in any case.
You are the first descendant of Conrad B. Hite I have ever encountered.I am glad to know you.
