My grandfather; Thomas "Lee" Hoadley My grandmother called him Lee, I was not aware it was Thomas until seeing my fathers birth cert.
He was one of 5, I believe. His parents unknown Had 3 Brothers (we think, could be more??)...
And two sisters who married two brothers both last name Holmes. I do not recall their names.
I have attended some Holmes/Hoadley reunions years ago in licking county ohio area. Gladys Banks and Nelson Holmes of wooster ohio area were there. Holmes family knew nothing of Hoadley origins of their mothers.
One Hoadley brother (I believe was Arron) lived at Buckeye Lake and died there. Believed he drove a truck. I do have a news paper obit. lists no children and died at sisters home.
"Lee" was known to have been married twice. Rummor he had children with Rosanna Hoadley, but we have no info. I do have news clip wife Rosanna was killed on train tracks picking up coal. Lee saw approach of train and yelled to rosanna to watch out. Startled she jumped back from that train into the path of another. Reported killed instantly, both news clips had been provided by Mrs. Banks however, dates were cut off.
Then married Alberta Rector- Hoadley they had a large age gap.
They had 3 children Oldest Junior Hoadley, family rummor he may have not been "Lee's" and Alberta pregant married him to save face. He marrying her to raise his children from another wife(children and rummor never confirmed). Dorthy Hoadley and Harold "Robert"(1937). However due to mix up on birth certificate Harold was listed as Howard and later changed. Later meaning after more then 30 years.
Family lived in Newark Ohio area, Alberta and "Lee" were divorced around 1937-1939. Robert was born in 1937, per Alberta the city came out and found the baby (Robert) walking around dirty. So they took him. Her ansewer when asked how the three children had spent their early years in a Newark Children's Home. Only later to be removed from the home by their new step father, John Wiley. Who was later murdered over a traping dispute.
"Lee" was alive around 1950/1951 however, he had little to no interaction with his children. So details of the Hoadley families are not known. Does anyone know about these Hoadleys? Or even Holmes?
Lee would have been about 55 yrs when he married Alberta or may have been. Making him born around 1874 (1874-1880??)or so.
