I was looking at the Griffith’s Valuation, which was a huge census type information gathering to access Ireland's tax base done in the ...1850's. Lucky for us it was done by a genealogist. Information was gathered from a census and parish tithe books.
According to the Griffeth’s Valuation there were 14 people (heads of house hold?) with the surname Hobbins listed in Ireland. Nine from County Tipperary and five from County Galway. sorry my table doesn't show up in Genforum. Ormond Lower, Tipperary, North Riding

G – Griffeths Valuation T- tithe books
Some information is taken from the Parish Tithe books which seemed to be dated about 1824-26and some from Griffiths. Therefore I assume; some of these lists are the same person, that the ones that are G are the older generation, and the ones that are just G are the younger generation.
Tipperary South Riding had 1 listing for a Hobin in Slievardagh.
