My maiden name is HOBBINS. You would be amazed at how mangled the HOBBINS surname gets! I've had people think my last name was HIBBENS on many occasions. I had had so much trouble finding my father on the 1930 Pennsylvania Census until I did a "soundex" name search instead of an exact name. I knew he should be on it because he was born in 1921. When I did the soundex I found him listed with his mother, half-sister and half-brother (who were adopted by my paternal grandfather) under the name HOPPINS! The interviewer either misheard or misspelled the name. I suggest that you do a "fuzzy" search or "soundex" search on your surname. I'll bet a dollar to donuts that HOBBINS comes up as a suggestion. Good luck on your search!
