I only recently found out about my Hodnett line so this is my first post on this line!
My Hodnetts are from Cork, specifically Cooragurteen, Ballydehob, and mainly Skull (Schull) - even more specifically Schull East during the 1860s-1890s Andrew Hodnett (Andy Hodnett) & Catherine Driscoll. They were Roman Catholic.
I believe Andrew Hodnett was born in 1832 or at least around then, in Cooragurteen. I have no idea who his parents were.
He married Catherine Driscoll probably 1858 in Cork.
Andrew Hodnett & Catherine Driscoll had at least the following children, all born in Cork & mainly at Skull Dispensary. -Bridget (1858/9) -Patrick (1861-) -Margaret (1864-) -Mary (1866-) -Kate (1868-) -Ellen (1871-1911) -Johanna (1872-) -John (1874-) -Tom (1876-) -Andrew (1878-)
I can find nothing on anyone other than Ellen. Tom and Andrew MIGHT have been living with their father in the 1911 census in Cooragurteen- the ages do fit. Andrew the father also likely is the Andrew Hodnett who died between April-June 1916.
Ellen Hodnett married John J. Fitzgerald in Cork in 1891. They had 1 child in Cork then migrated to Massachusetts, USA. They lived primarily in Taunton, Mass. Their children became nurses, bakers, clerks, and operators. Not all children married. Their children all born in MA except Maurice. -Maurice (1891) born in Cork -Mary Ellen (1894-1946) Catherine F. (1896-) -Anna M. (occasionally listed as Hannah) (1900/1-) -Mildred R. (1902-1986) -John Edward (1904-) -Madeline (1906-1982) -William Joseph (1909-1998)
Their daughter Mary Ellen Fitzgerald married George Hart. They lived in Hyde Park in Boston. They had: -John Francis (1917-1993) -Helen Virginia (1919-1995) -Edward Maurice (1921-1983) -George (1921-1983) -Jean (1925-1969)
John Francis Hart married Eleanor Costello. They had 4 children; 3 are still living. John & Eleanor were grandparents to 8 children. John didn't live to see all his great-grandchildren but there are currently 12.
If any of these names are familiar I'd love to hear from you at cait.a.hart -at- gmail
