I am Aloysius's granddaughter, born Patricia A.My father was Richard A. Hoen Sr. he has been dead for several years. Aloysius was the second oldest of the children of John and Mary Hoen. The names listed on the Hoen Monument in St. Francis Cem. are: Arthur J., Aloysius, Louis C., Gregory L., Emil L., Charles F., Francis, Edward J., Joseph A., Fredik G., Leo E.,Raymond P., Anthony L., and Mary E.I knew most of my greatuncles. The story we were always told about Joh coming to this country fromAlsace-Lorraine was that he along with 4or5 of his brothers were sent to America to escape the draft into the army. The city directory of Buffalo in 1890 listed John Hoen and two other males but so far I have found no connection between them.John in addition to the grocery store also owned a saloon.
Alyousis married Margaret Rhemus they had one child Richard Sr.
At the present time I am tracing the family of John thru the census data gathered in 1870-1920.John's wife is always listed as Mary except in the 1880 census when she is called Elizabeth. The last name is always appears as Hoenexcept in the 1910 census when it appeared as Hoehn.
Moee info next letter. Pat Hoen
