Attended Hubbard Woods Grade School in Winnetka, IL (grades 1-6), Washburn Jr High School (grades 7-9), and New Trier High School (10-12 graduating June 2003). Attending: Univ. of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana campus, Institute of Aviation, Professional Pilot Program. He "soloed" an aircraft on his 16th birthday (the youngest that one can lawfully accomplish that task) and he received FAA Private Pilot License with Single Engine Land rating on 18 Sept 2002 (at age 17) and went on to recieve his FAA Instrument Rating & Commercial Pilot's License 2005.He enlisted as an "Airman Basic" in Illinois Air National Guard, 183rd Fighter Wing, Springfield, IL on 18 Sep 2002, and was promoted to E-3 (Airman First Class) on 9 Jun 2003, and again to E-4 (Sr. Airman) in 2005.He completed USAF Basic Military Training (BMT) at Lackland AFB, San Antonio, TX on 25 Jun 2003. Completed USAF Tech Scool in Dec 2004 and was named an "Honor Graduate" for his academic performance.He is now a full-qualified Crew Chief and mechanic in F-16 aircraft.He hopes to obtain a commission as a 2/Lt in the Ill. ANG & one of the 1-2 annual USAF Undergraduate Pilot Tng. (UPT) slots allocated to the 183rd to permit attendance at USAF UPT in F-16 aircraft. His military awards & medals include:The National Defense Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Military Outstanding Voluntary Service Medal, the USAF Training Ribbon and Ill. ANG Military Attendance Ribbon. He is a certified PADI Scuba Diver; Two Varsity letters in volleyball from New Trier High School, and an Eagle Scout in BSA (19 Dec 2002) with 40 Merit Badges, Order of the Arrow & recipient of the national BSA Heroism Award for a lifesaving attempt in Nova Scotia, Canada while on a two-man transatlantic sailing voyage in 1999 when he was age 14.He was nominated for a Carnagie Hero Medal for this event, as well.He has traveled to over 20 different foreign countries & was selected as 2002 Student Ambassador to Australia with the People-to-People Organization.He was the recipient of the 2004 Congressional Award - Gold Medal (one of 171 Recipients in 2004).
