John Cassius Hoff: Genealogical Data Entry: Born: 5 March 1875 in Dallas Co., IA on family farm. One of 7 children of John H. Hoff (B: 01 Apr 1830- D: 31 Mar 1909 in Waukee, IA) and mother Mary Ann Akins Hoff (B: 1833, Indiana - died 13 Feb 1907, Des Moines, IA). He went to the Alaskian Gold Rush in 1898 for one winter with an older brother, Oscar C. "Shorty" Hoff, and visited a younger brother, Charles Worth Hoff who emigrated to Barrhead, Alberta, Canada, enroute back to DSM, IA. Married to Mabel Mina Tennant of Hartley, IA on 13 June 1904, dtr. of Wesley Tennant and Sarah (Glasford) Tennant. He had 3 children: John Richard Hoff (6 Feb 1909-4 Nov 1970); Jeanne Beatrice Hoff Goodwin (1910 - 2001) and Doris Mae Hoff Hohl (1912-1999). He worked as a clerk for the Des Moines, Ice & Coal Co. for many years, owned & operated the family farm, in Dallas Co. until it was sold to the Des Moines Golf & Country Club in 1960 for its two 18 hole golf courses. No military service or College. He died on 10 Mar 1960 in Des Moines, IA & is buried next to his wife, son and daughter (Jeanne Hoff Goodwin) in the Waveland Glendale Cem., DSM, IA.
