Here is the recently revealed CONFIRMED DNA parential link between AMOS HOFF (1775-1855) & POWELL HOFF (1801-1870), thanks to the DNA testing and diligent research efforts of Huff cousin, LARRY HUFF.So, it turns out that the presumptions of BILL HOFF of Omaha have now been verified by two separate methods, and I, too, am now convinced that POWELL HOFF's father was, in fact AMOS HOFF.Here is the posted correspondence revealing the new information:
Hi Larry, Bob, and John;
WOW - I am doing the Happy Dance to finally have this paper proof and I really appreciate all your hard work.I was always on the fence about who the father was until I saw the Day Book - plus the naming patterns with my gr grandfather named Amos fits.
I too am missing the line to Derrick Pauluszen Hoff but I seem to remember that you said that another of Rev Daniel's sons shouldn't be in the Reverend's lineage and that it was just copied from tree to tree.But I don't remember which one.I'm glad you also found the land deed that names's Amos' mother as Prudence Hoff/Huff.Now you can take a well deserved vacation!

Hi, Larry Thanks so much for all your hard work. This is great news to finally have confirmation. I've been about 90% sure it was going to be Amos, especially after noticing in Powell Dudley Hoff's Day Book (posted by Lady Di) that Powell Dudley apparently names his two grandfathers, Nathan Brewster and Amos Hoff. Not conclusive but pretty good circumstantial evidence. My problem now is that since Rev Daniel is no longer in the lineage (correct?) I'm missing a few generations between Amos and Derrick Pauluszen Hoff. I've got some candidates but I don't remember who has or hasn't been proven or disproven. I'm going to have to pore over all our emails to refresh my memory but if someone has the corect lineage on hand it would sure be a big help.

Hi Bob, Lady Di and John,
It took me long enough and about $1,200.00 worth of various DNA tests, but here is your proveable and understandable to anyone answer you had been looking for as to the father of Powell Hoff that married Martha Brewster, and his brother John Harvey Hoff that married Adeline.
California Cousin Bob Hoff has been wonderful thru the 4 or 5 rounds of testing on his DNA for us, and I really appreciate it.
Bob this is your 5th cousin Henry Huff who is the 100% iron clad paper proven ggg grandson of Amos Hoff born 1775's brother John Hoff/Huff that married Mary Yates with Jonas Sutton as the surety .
The y-dna test of male lines is a wonderful long range tool for genealogy but would not give us the answer. So I did this one which is very short range thru the Arizona lab and it's more like thinking in terms of a paternity test. At each birth the Hoff dna is combined with the spouse and so it is shall we say watered down so that in just a few generations it will not even show a match at all.
Only about 10 percent of 5th cousins has enough of the same common dna in this method to even show up so we were very lucky in this case.50 percent of 4th cousins will show a match and about 80 percent of 3rd cousins.
I knew it was a long shot when I ordered this one, but I thought with our Dutch Hoff blood being so strong it might happen and it payed off.
Out of the 41 Hoff/Huff lines I have in the database of this short range Family Finder test, Amos Hoff born 1775's ggg Nephew Henry Huff is the only one that Bob's DNA could reach back far enough in generations to show as a 5th cousin.We know that by the long range y-dna testing that Bob matches me, John, Henry and all the other direct male Hoff/Huffs coming from Derrick Pauluszen Hoff but this short range will only reach the closest Hoff kinsman.
Did not mean to be so wordy. The long and short of it is that Amos Hoff born 1775 is now the dna proveable/proven father of Powell Hoff and his brother John Harvey Hoff.
Your buddy and thankful to be Dutch Hoff cousin, Larry Huff
