Note: The census image listed that those enumerated on that page lived in Sections 1 & 12, which are adjacent to each other and probably in the township of Lockport; additional research req'd.
Listed as Aloes Hoffman in 1900 Fed. census for Lockport Twp. [West of Des Plaines River], Will Co., IL, Dist. 136, enumerated on 21 Jun 1900, age 65, b. May 1835, Germany, farmer, married 35 years, w/wife + 1 child, George, Alois immigrated to U.S. in 1848 [image shows 1838 in error], resided in U.S. 52 years, both parents b. Germany. Note: Although the 1900 census is reliable on birth dates, there are variations of calculated birthdate in other census images.
Listed as Alois Hoffman in 1910 Fed. Census for Lockport, Will Co., IL, Dist. 185, enumerated on 21 Apr 1910, age 69, b. Germany, own income, married 3 years, emmigrated to US in 1852, naturalized, w/2nd wife Sussie, age 36 + 4 of her children from prior marriage with surname Yard + 1 daughter of this marriage, age 1 year, both parents b. Germany, living at 619 State St.
He worked in a steel mill, farmed & ran a saloon in Lyons, IL, owned and managed a saloon in Lockport, IL per George A. Reed paper.
Jeremy Jordan has a copy of some Will Co., IL Probate records that shows that "Alois Hofmann" provided "Proof of Death" for Leger Hills, his father-in-law as well as a transcript of Leger's Will. In review of various documents, there is a spelling of both 'Hofmann' and 'Hoffman'.

BIRTH: Originally calculated to be about 1834, but she is listed as Marie Anne Hils in a copy of the original Bill of Birth [in Jeremy Jordan’s records], rec'd. 20 Dec 2007 from Mairie de Wittisheim, b. 21 Aug 1833, also showing both parents, Léger & Catherine.
Earlier data indicated her to be about 73 [which is correct] when she died per George Aubrey Reed (RIN-1855), paper. The approx birth year of 1834 confirmed in a Death Registry entry, showing birth in Germany, since Germany took Alsace in 1871.
BIOGRAPHY: Listed as Mary Hufman in 1880 Fed. Census for Lockport, Will Co. [Section 1 & 12], IL, Dist. 205, enumerated on 10 Jun 1880, age 40, b. France, keeping house, married w/4 children, both parents b. France. Note: She was actually 47 - see birth data above.

Aug 1835, France, married 34 years, 5 children born, 4 still living, both parents b. France. Note: The birth year is off by 2 years according to birth record; the calculated marriage year is 1866, matching known info.
