Researching my Dunn line and need help urgently. My great great grandfather, George Dunn married Phyllis HOGARTH (born 7.1.1803 Kirkwhelpington da. of John and Barbara) at Morpeth (possibly at St Mary's) on 29.4.1827.
A check of the 1881 Census shows the following entry: Kirkley March Cottage,Kirkley, Northumberland PRO Ref RG11 Piece 5097 Folio 84 Page 10 MarrAgeSexBirthplace Jane NOBLEW54FLongbenton, Northumberland Rel:Head Phillis DUNNW78FKirkwhelpington, Northumberland Rel:Mother George NOBLE14MPonteland, Northumberland, Rel:Son Elizabeth NOBLE14FPonteland, Northumberland Rel:Daur Henry J. My great grandfather, William was baptised at St Mary's Church, WHALTON on 8th July 1827 atwhich time, his parents lived at SHILVINGTON WEST HOUSES (father George's occupation being: Hind. This address is only a few miles to the north of KIRKLEY; with KIRKWHELPINGTON (on the A.696) being closeby and to the west of WHALTON. William died at 73 High Street, Gateshead on 16.11.1873, leaving his widow, Jane DUNN Nee CHARLTON born Ryton 1838 and two kin.
Can anyone help in checking George's marriage event (possibly at St Mary's The Virgin, Morpeth) on 19th April 1827 which might establish the identity and occupation of the bride/groom's fathers. At first sight, it might seem that my great grandfather William and Jane Noble Nee Dunn c1827 @ Longbenton, might be twins.
In 1901, a Jane Noble (Widow) aged 72 was living somewhere in Tynemouth and a George Noble 34 (General Labourer) was living at Wallsend with a William Noble aged 6. Elizabeth Noble 34 and Henry Noble 32 (Gas Stoker) were sighted (believed at same address) at CHIRTON, NBL.
Please get in touch with me direct if this suits you best. All offers of help will be appreciated.
