Thank you Steve. I bought the book--still confused, lol! I just can't seem to get beyond a J. Clayton Hoge b. 1853. I think his father was Kenworthy Hoge, but which one? There was a Kenworthy Hoge b. 1830, married to an Emily Pettit who may have been J. Clayton's parents, but there is also a William Hoge and Mary McGath who had a Kenworthy Hoge in 1821. Maybe he is the father of J. Clayton. I am uncertain. I have found lines that take me back to the surnames Mansfield and Burkel,from the mother's sides, but I want to find the direct connection to the paternal Hoge line.
Anyhow, did I tell you that Mary Taylor Hoge b. 1913, was the daughter of David Taylor b. 1891 and Mary B. Morris Taylor, b. 1892. I think David immigrated from Scotland around the time Mary was born.
