Further digging in the sack of stuff my brother sent home with me shows the parents of Walter Rush Hogsed to be George Hogsed and Arta Malissa Quarls. Might this George Hogsed be George Walter Hogsed, son of George Washington Hogsed?
Walter Rush Hogsed ("Rush" comes from the name of the doctor who delivered him) had two sisters, Vera and Roxie who were younger. Walter says he was born in the Blueridge Mountains of North Carolina; that his father farmed and that he took peaches to Anderson where they were sold for 10 cents a bushel. The whole family went west in 1891 to Montana after selling the farm to a cousin who got rich in the west and then came back home.
