Hohmann, 66, of Mackinac Island and Yorkville, Illinois, died unexpectedly of a heart attack at his Mackinac Island apartment Wednesday, October 22, 2008.>Mr. Hohmann was born in Cleveland, Ohio, May 12, 1942.>As a college graduate, he worked for Mackinac Island Carriage Tours for many years as a horseman, dispatcher, and driving trainer.>He was known as a historian of Mackinac and of the Civil War era. He applied his love and knowledge of history at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, working as a civil war guide for three years.>He later built a home on Mackinac Island and lived there with his children, who were graduated from Mackinac Island Public School.>He is survived by a son, Christopher, of Yorkville, a daughter and her family, Sarah and Michael Hohmann-Koester of Millington, Illinois, and three grandchildren.>A funeral will be held in Yorkville at a later date.>Dodson Funeral Home of St. Ignace is assisting the family with arrangements.
