I should also have mentioned that Jeremiah Holleman was another (younger) brother of John Jr and Jordan, all sons of Jesse Holleman (son of John Sr). I have seen the Jesse Hicks name mentioned in deeds associated with the "White Oak" Hollemans, although current on-line records only go back to 1885 or so.
The senior Holleman(John)and his wife(Charity Cofer) were originally from Isle of Wight, Virgina, and moved to Anson County, NC. John Jr and Jordan, two of the elder grandsons of John Sr, established sizeable farms off the main trail (old US # 1) and continued the Holleman name in White Oak Township.
The 1913 home of Samuel Bartley Holleman, grandson of Davis (son of John Jr) was selected for inclusion on the list of National Register of Historic Places during 2008 near New Hill, NC: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samuel_Bartley_Holleman_Househttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samuel_Bartley_Holleman_House
