I got your email a few days ago and I have delayed answering it because I have been making some inquires by email to a cousin in Staatsburg, NY. I am writing from Halifax, Nova Scotia where I have been spending summers for the last ten or so years. My home is in Poughkeepsie where I live with the rest of my family. I thought about asking them to go up to my loft study and sort through my records but decided not to as they might get everything mixed up. There are also grandchildren there and that could lead to more hazzards for my material.
So for now I can say only that I am fairly sure that we are linked. My great Grand father, Charles Holsapple, was a section foreman on the Central New England RR and they had a stop in Copake. His son, my grand father, Harvey Julius Holsapple, worked for his father and married Ella Briggs in 1894. The name Florence Holsapple is familiar to me and I might have been introduced to her as a child by my mother Laura Ella Holsapple. She may have been my GF's sister or sister in law.
I have more detailed records at home and will look them up when I get back in late August. About a year ago I was hot on the trail of the Holsapple line but got side tracked when my kids reminded me that I had better get started on my own autobiography (I am AGE 76). They wanted to hear more about my time spent in the USSR coaching baseball, etc. So I wrote about 160 plus pages up to my going to college as a freshman, but I need to get back to my Holsapple work in the near future.
The only Robert Hanson I ever heard of was a government employee that might have time to do this kind of research now that he is "retired." Anyway it was good to get your message and I hope to hear from you again about what else you may know about the Holsapples. I will give you the details of what I know when I get home. Feel free to also contact me at my email address.
