Hello.
St. Louis city directory listings:
(1851) S. Holzer
(1852) Sigmon Holzer, shoemaker, residence es Second, between Convent and Hazel.
(1860)Sigmund Holzer, shoemaker, 201 S. 2nd, residence same.
I have a 1870 census record with family members:
Sigmund Holzer, 47 yrs. shoemaker, born in Baden
Catherina (?), keeping house, born in Switzerland
Sigmund, 17 or 19 (?)
John, 14
Lena and Louis, twins, 11, at school
All children born in Missouri.
There is a burial for S. Holzer at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery, Section 19, St. Louis, MO.
Born 12 May 1822; died 12 Apr 1881.
That's all I have on an "S. Holzer."
My great-great grandfather was Valentine Hoelzer from Columbia, Illinois, married to Magdalena Gebhardt, children: Cunigunda, Frederick, John, Ulrich, and Joseph (my great-grandfather).
I have accumulated other local Holzer/Hoelzer information, although cannot link most of it that is not in my family line.
Good luck with your research!
Mary
