Hi Robyn,
Linda Newman-Johnson here,[email protected], I believe that our Moses JasperHON-HONN-HORN.,1842,Montgomery Co.,Ky.
may have moved into Ill/Indiana,Ark
They were diffently illerate, and or foriegn, and also wanted to not be traced.
My gr grandmother gave different birthdays, AND TWO DIFFERENT NAMES!
I have been told that she connects toMOSES HONN-HON-HORN LINE IN MONTGOMERY CO., MOSES MARR MELINDA DANIEL.
She gives her name as Margaret "C", on gr grandfather Andrew Bird Newmans, 1847, Va/Oh PENSION RECORDS.I thought that it was a "typo",mis-heard "E" for a "C", but the original Moses HON-HONN-HORN, actually had a daughter born to him named Margaret C. ????????????????
In the 1870 census in LAWERNCE CO., OHIO, she is listed as ELIZABETH HONN.In Adams Co., Ohio, she calls herself Maggie/Margaret Hon, 1863-1873. Elizabeth Margaret?Margaret Elizabeth?
She was marr first, to a Mikel Haws/Hawes, and had several sons. One was Harrison Hawes, Jan 29,1890.He lived with Anna Belle Haws.
Maggie lived, and raised her Hawse children on the land of James Horn,on Smokey Corner Rd., in Adams Co.,So Ohio, James had a woman named Julia Hon living with him.
Next she was married to Andrew Bird Newman, 1847, Va/Oh. They had only one son, my grandfather, Clarence Edward Newman,1897-98,Oh.
He was raised by the Hawes family, sons of Maggie.
He never knew much of her family.Late in life, he was visted by a family of GEORGE DONALD HON,& HAROLD HON, that told him he was a relative of thiers thru Maggie!
I have since found on genealogy.com, there was a George Hon born 1912, Indiana,
and died in Fort Smith Arkansas.
Posted by (Shanan mariahswind, & Joe.)He died Jan 17, 1969 Evansville Indiana.
He had a sister Mary Elena Hon,born Oct 28, 1902. Phillilstown, White Co., Ill.she marr Nov 14th, Bill Kasper.
A brother Harold Hon, born, Jan 20th, 1901., Hon? Arkansas. died June 7, 1971 Evansville, Arkansas.
This line comes from Jonas Hon & Mary Keithly as per Shanon.
Maggie was Indian, the family has passed this down, and used to chase all of her children with a butcher-knife, to get them to help her with all the chores.
Grandfather loved her regardless of her ways.
She was unable to read and write, and unable to speak the language, she spoke broken English. She must have had a hard time communicating with people.
She marr after 1900, a Walter Dodds. She had in the 1900 census a baby named Dorcus, stated it was a male.Later, I seen an infant in a nearby McFarland family, same age, same name.?????maybe born to someone in that family, with Maggie, someone mentioned her with a Shoemaker arrying or living with, I have never seen any children born to him.
On the other side
of the family, RachelSantee Hon and sister Margaret DeAtley were in Platte Co., Mo.More on that later.
