I think that the following establishes that the Russell Co, AL, family descends from Archibald HOOD, of Lancaster Co, SC, s/o William, unless someone comes up with another Archibald whose wife was named Catherine. Certainly from time of 1789 deed, fr John HOOD Jr. to Archibald HOOD, seems to be same family.
[on forum] 18 Feb 1793—Lanc Co, SC Deed Book B pp 240-241 James & Archibald HOOD to John HODD [sic] 100A on Camp Creek, granted to George DOUGLASS 4 Jun 1759, to William HOOD 24 Jul 1762, & then by William HOOD's LWT of 7 Apr 1783 to James & Archibald. Establishes spouses of Archibald & James as Catharine & Mary.

Info may not agree w/census. Census may have errors, plus maybe child died young/before next census, maybe child went to live with another family or vice versa, plus step-children--some variation in census stats likely. Don’t see conflict w/1790 Lancaster Co, SC census: one Archd. HOOD 1-0-1--eldest child, Margaret HOOD COLE, b bet 1789-1791, could have been born after census taken.
1820 Lancaster CO, SC census: Archibald & Archibald A. HOOD both on p177, seems to be father & son.
