Addie Maxwell Funeral services for Addie Lenora Maxwell, 94, of Wharton, were held Tuesday at Wharton Funeral Home with Rev. Joe Nash officiating. Burial followed in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Maxwell died Oct. 30, 2005, in Victoria following an extended illness. She was born July 20, 1911, in Evergreen. She was one of eight children of the late Jessie Hoot and Annie Peggy Carter Hoot. She was a former resident of Victoria before moving to Wharton in 1975. Mrs. Maxwell was a homemaker and a member of the Wharton Assembly of God Church. She married Edward Bryan Maxwell May 5, 1928, in Wharton and he preceded her in death on June 9, 1978. Survivors include her daughters, Annie Viola Dickey of Mathis, Fay Lenora Alley and husband, Charles, of Lockhart, Peggy O?Dell Blackmore of Houston and Donna Janette Bentley and husband, Bill, of Forth Worth; sons, Edward Wilkerson Maxwell and wife, Zelda, of Cuero, Ernest Virgil Maxwell and wife, Joellen, of Houston, Roy Earl Maxwell and wife, Mary, of Refugio, Orvel Lynn Maxwell and wife, Marlen, of McAllen, Doyle Ray Maxwell and wife, Patricia, of Robstown and Bryan Wayne Maxwell and wife, Celia, of Victoria; 29 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by five sisters and two brothers. If desiring, memorials may be made to a charity of personal choice.
