Annylyn it has been sometime since I have posted as a
reminder my father was Fred U. Hammett Jr. of Natchez Mississippi (his father of the same name but Sr. and mother Ida May Rossin who also married Howard Hootsell of Clayton LA right across the Mississippi River, after her first husband drown in the Ms. River before my father was born, they produced Keith Hootsell)These half brothers grew up together and are buried together in Monroe Louisiana.Of interest might be a conversation I recently had with my mother Lucille Hammett who was telling me that the boys also had a third running mate while they were growing a Montpelier boy (she did not know if he was of any relation). She also told a story about Keith Hootsell who was in one of the last battles in WWII. For two years they all thought he was dead at the end, missing in action, was there a battle of anzio. Then two years later he showed up on their doorstep ALIVE.The Russians had found him, his dog tags were gone and they took him back to a hospital where he remained in a coma. Then one day he awoke and said where am I???Within 15 days he was standing on his half brothers doorstep in Louisiana. He lived with them until he got on his feet. Also does anyone know where Keith,s daughters might live there maiden names were Sandra Kay and Cherie, they lived as a family on Bayou Diserd, Monroe Louisiana.I would appreciate any leads. I can be emailed at [email protected] to all
