I have just found my HORAN ancestors in Toxteth Park, Liverpool after a wild goose chase around Ireland. They were refuted to originate in County Cork. Living in 105 Upper Henderson Street, Toxteth Park in 1851 Census I have John HORAN, 36, Plasterer's labourer born in Ireland, Mary, 37, born in Ireland and children Julia, 12, William, 10, Mary, 8, Margaret, 4, and Elizabeth 11 months. The children were all born in England. Julia was born in Manchester, the next two in Liverpool and the last two in Toxteth. I have not been able to find any birth records for the children. I know they were all Catholics so I'd appreciatre any information on the
I have not been able to find John and Mary HORAN in a later census, although my searches have not been exhaustive. I know that John had died by 1871 when his daughter Margaret HORAN/ HORAIN married Thomas FARRIMOND in Wigan. Margeret is described variously as born in Ireland, and born in Wigan in later census's. This had totally thrown me! I've also just found Margaret's brother William HORAN in Henderson Street, Toxteth Park in the 1871 census with wife Mary, children John, William, Julia and ?Hilary. I've also found a daughter Margaret in the 1881 census although by then William has died. Margaret's female siblings are much harder to find.
I'd be really interested in hearing any other HORAN descendants looking for Liverpool routes. Please don't send attachments or my virus checker will knock you out.
