My great-grandmother was Dorothea Catharina Britzius, born in 1813 in Birkenfeld, Germany. She married Johann Christian Grimm in 1833. I think her sister Louise Philippine Britzius who married Georg Hornbostle in 1839 was younger. Charlotte Mowers was born 1851, the same year as my grandfather, Johann Christian Grimm, II, but I don't know if she was a daughter of Louise and Georg Hornbostle; however, she did sign her correspondence as "Your Cousin." The correspondence that I still have from Charlotte to my grandfather's family covers a period from 1909 to 1916. During that time period, she lived in Utica, New York. I can't tell from the letters if she ever lived in the Newburgh or Evansville, Indiana area, but I know she did visit the Indiana relatives. She had a daughter Antoinette who married Richard Williams. I am not sure who his parents were, but George Hornbostle attended Epworth Elementary School in Warrick County, Indiana. In the 1907-1908 school year, he was 13 and in the 6th grade. My father, John Christian Grimm, III and Karl Brizius were 6 years old and in the first grade during that year. I do have much more information about the Britzius family, but nothing more about the Hornbostles other than what is written above.
