Barbara Ruth Horton died on Sunday, March 11, 2012. She was born March 4, 1934 in Three Point, Ky. to William Horton and Edith Elrod Horton. She graduated from Buchtel High School in Akron and was elected homecoming queen for 1949. She was a Registered Nurse and held a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Kent State University and Master of Arts in Education degree from Malone College. Barb enjoyed working with elementary school children as a nurse for the Massillon City School district, and worked for many years at Mercy Medical Center in Canton as a nurse, educator, and physician recruiter. She enjoyed golf, gardening, and sports. She was preceded in death by her longtime companion, Don Hill. She is survived by daughter, Teresa Hurray of Fort Bragg, Calif.; son, Keith McCormish and daughter-in-law, Cindy Yovanovich of Columbus, Ohio; grandson, Nicholas McCormish; great-granddaughter, Mia McCormish, also of Columbus. She is also survived by siblings, Bill Horton, Steve Horton, Bettie Lewis, Myrna Drowns, and Carole Felicia, and their families. Private inurnment.
