Thanks for your prompt reply.Sarah had 2 or possibly 3 brothers:-
Joseph Browne Hosford b 1849 (my great gf) d.1921
George Tomp(k)ins Hosford b 1852. d.1925
A Henry Tompkins Hosford is a witness at my ggf wedding in 1876 but so far I have not been able to trace him with any certainty.
As for Sarah- that's all I have.Does John Mullin appear in a census of 1881,1891 etc... and what details?
I have a list of "Hosfords" BMD from 1860 to 1940 .I will send them to you if you give me your email address.
I guess it's possible she went to Canada(on her own or with the elder brother-Henry Tompkins Hosford).I have traced the other two branches of the family who settled in England.
Incidentally "Tompkins" was the maiden name of Mary Anne Tompkins who married my gg grandfather Joseph Browne Hosford (b.1820/21 d.1891 in Belfast) in 1848.So if this name features anywhere I would say there is a definite link.
