Jane HOSKINS married Archibald Lanham in Prince George’s County, MD, early 1770s (no direct evidence; from other sources). I suspect that Jane is the daughter of George HOSKINS / HOSKINSON of Prince George’s County, MD. If there are any associated wills, land deeds, etc for the Hoskins – Lanham connection, or anything further on George HOSKINS, please share. Jane HOSKINS is not my direct family line, so my information is vague.
In the 1776 census, St John and Prince George’s Parishes, Jane, age 27, and her husband Archibald LANHAM, age 25, are listed, page 49. Jane is not “21” years of age. The original image is a “27.”
George HOSKINS, age 43, and wife Mary, age 42, are listed on page 50, about seven households away. Josias HOSKINS, age 20, living by himself, pg 48. I believe that Jane’s parentage is not indicated in anywhere, because there is not a great deal of research into Jane HOSKINS or George HOSKINS, b. abt 1733 (absence of surviving paper trail?). Archibald remarried to Ms. BEALL. The LANHAM family is said to have moved to Monroe County, VA, and then to Monongalia Co., Virginia (present day West Virginia). Archibald died there about 1811 - 1812. There were also George Hoskins family members who migrated to Monongalia County.
