St. Charles (Illinois) Chronicle, 25 May 1955: Balloon Lands in S. Fifth St. Yard You can't tell what you'll find in your front yard nowadays. Mark Hough, son of the M.H. Houghs, 407 S. Fifth St., found an army weather balloon hanging in the top branches of a tree at the family home Sunday morning. After the public works department got it down with the help of ladders, the words "Army Signal Corps, Lexington, Kentucky" were found on its sides. The balloon had a box which held equipment formaking temperature and pressure readings, a balloon and a parachute. ----------- I am not related to nor researching this family and have no further information.
