Humphrey HUCKINS , stock dealer Chebanse, is one of the pioneers of this county. he coming here in 1839 an dhis wifes family in 1841 They relate numerous ancedotes of the trials and tribulations of pioneer life, when the railroad was being built, they boarded the hands, as no other place at a reasonable distance could be found, Mr HUCKINS was born in Clark Co Ohio, April 8, 1819 residing there til 1839, occupation of farmer, he removed to Butlers Pooint Vermillion Co for 2 yrs, then came to Illinois , Iroquois Co settling near the mouth of Spring Creek, he sold out and went to Kankakee Co living there about 10 yrs, then came to Chebanse in about 1869 where he has since residedHe was married JAn 12 1843 to Miss Sarah BOYD of Maryland (She according to all census was b in IRELAND) June 12 1824, they have 4 ch, Guy, Carrie (Caroline) Mary and Frank.
