Well, a lot of computer hours today in the rain and I've found her.I think.
There's a family Bible online (thanks to Jeanne Arguelles) that belongs to Robert Huff and his wife, Sarah. This transcription lists grandchildren, including my Sara Ann Elizabeth Huff/Hoff, born January 9, 1841. This is her exact name and birth date. Unfortunately, it didn't say which of the Huff children was her father.I went to the census and did process of elimination.
In the 1850 Dekalb County, GA, census, James R. Huff (who is the son of Robert/Sarah) is listed as being born around 1818 (just a year off), and the listing also has his wife, Martha, his children are Sarah, Martha, Robert, Harrison, and Jane.Sarah's age fits my Sara perfectly. Then I found another online researcher who listed James R. as dying in 1851.I think Martha brought the children back to Oglethorpe County, and Sara married Wm Martin in 1855, at only 14 years of age.She named her first son James, her daughter Martha, and a younger daughter Johnnie (sister Jane Huff's nickname was Johnnie and she died in 1868 at only 19).
Pretty good proof, right? If anyone has anything to correct or add, I'd appreciate it very much.
