I have a Madelaine Parcot who married John H Badeau the son of Eli Badeau, a Huguenot from France.
I think that Pierre Parcot and Francoise Jandron or Gendron were her parents.
Pierre was born in Marrenes, Saintogne, France about 1665. His father, another Pierre, was a Huguenot and they had to flee from France to England with some other Huguenot families, among them the Jandron or Gendron family.
By 1671 they were living in London where Pierre the father was known as an “Ancien of the Temple” in Soho which means they had joined the Reformed French Church which was in Threadneedle Street at that time.
The younger Pierre married Francoise Jandron and they came to New York and lived in New Rochelle.According to an article in the New-York Tribune. (New York [N.Y.]) 1866-1924, August 30, 1908, Image 59 they may have been living in New Rochelle as early as 1689. There is also a mention of Pierre's will which was in the possession of a gg grandson at that time, (100 years ago)
They are listed in the Census of Sept 1698 "List of the Inhabitants of New Rochelle" In the 1710 Census they are listed as Peter Parcot age 45, Francoise Gendron his wife age 37.
In Pierre Parcot's will he states, "To my wife Francoise Jandron (Gendron) my house and 64 acres where I now live." (in New Rochelle, NY.) I think both names are listed. The Parcot farm was near the Badeau farm and the area is now Highland Park, NY.
Their children were mentioned in Pierre's will dated 30 May 1730: Anna Maria wife of Pierre Bonnet, Magdalina wife of Jean Badeau, Jeanne and Hester, and a son Jean, and grandsons Pierre Perott and Pierre Badeau.
I'm not sure when the other children were born but the youngest "Hester" (Ester) was baptised in the Reformed French Church in New York 1 April 1711.
For the baptism of her daughter, Ester, in 1711 Francoise is listed as Francoise Gendron.
There may have also been a Jane (unless shes that lone "Jeanne" mentioned in the will) who married Jacob Schuerman and had a son, William, born in 1741.
I dont know the names of the parents of Francoise, but she was born about 1673 in either France or England and her siblings may have been Daniel and Pierre Jandron/Gendron or some other variation.
Parcot and Jandron are both listed among the 151 family names on the Huguenot monument in Hudson Park in New Rochelle, NY erected in 1888 to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the founding of New Rochelle. The plaque bearing the names was placed later in 1938.
I know the Parcot listed, that is Pierre, but I have no first name for the Jandron because Jandron or Gendron is not listed in the National Huguenot Society database. I wonder which male Jandron was here before 1688?
Does anyone have any more info on these Huguenot families: the Parcot family or the Jandron/Gendron family?
