Trying to find The Marselas and Edason connection to Canada-
spelling may vary
Researching John Edason Marselas born about 1780 Maryland
I believe the Edason (spelling may vary)is a family name of his mother or another family name-
I believe the family was from Canada and came to Maryland with the French expulsion.
They changed their name to Marselas, but their real name could be a French variation of that name.
In Canada they were in the leather business-I believe in Nova Scotia-In Balto they had a Shoe store on Baltimore Street-Hawes and Marselas Shoes---They also had a hat shop...French Millinery Shop
Looking for info on the Marselas family in Baltimore MD-
Here are death/burial info from Green Mount Cemetery with the listed Spelling variations.

I am trying to figure out additional generations before those listed here-Also, trying to figure out where they came from? Canada? other states? They just seem to all of a sudden appear in Balto...then moved to Virginia between 1850-1860
The family is on the 1850 census in MD...then in VA on the 1860 census.
