On December 10th William J. Huling of Marysville, Cooke County TX wrote to his half-brother Grant Huling of St. Clair, Franklin County MO:
"dear Broter I find that we have aright in the tearitorewe are Chicksaw and CharekeyI will be hoping to hear froms you soonGrant Huling WJ Huling"
Grant Huling died the following November in Franklin County. It is unknown if WJ Huling made to the Indian Territory.
The brothers were the sons of Jonathan J. Huling (1826-1899) and the grand-sons of Jonathan Huling (1787-1875) of Anderson County TN. This branch of TN Hulings possibly descend from the "Free Other" Huland family of 1790-1899 Marion County SC which have probable links to the NC Hulen branches that migrated to eastern TN in the mid 1800s. Jonathan and close relatives that went to Hardin County TN by the 1830s probably settled the Knox/Anderson/Roane County TN area along the Clinch River prior to 1810.
