Thanks.
I'd got to the Museum bits on the Hungerfords via your first post, - for some reason google hadn't been letting me get there directly, so cheers for that, it was really interesting. The Griffiths search was where I found out the landlord was a TH. That's been so useful. At first I was just wanting to know about the years of the tithe defaulting and the next 10-20 years, and I'd got fuddled because I'd found several Thomas Hungerfords alive at that time, but I've got it down to just the two of thembeing Landowners during that time, and a bit clearer on who and where they were.
I think it was the Hungerford that came to Ireland (1640s?) and lived at the Island, their second son went to Cahermore?, and it's his line leading to Thomas Hungerford (1789-1861) and his son Henry Jones Hungerford(1825-1905), and his son Thomas H that were the landlords for my family.
And the first son of the Hungerford who came from England, stayed in the Island Clonakilty and that line went to Thomas Hungerford (died 1870), and his daughters Miss Frances and Miss Mary Hungerford(died 1923). Most of the reports of disputes I've read are involving theInchydoney/Island, Clonakilty Hungerfords. So I'd be really interested in reading anything you come across involving the Cahermore Hungerfords, and that'd be great to read any information from estate records that comes to you. Thanks.
I wish we could read Land Commission files.
And cheers for the offer of help – I'd pass on the name, but it's complicated. But getting my head round the land issues feels like the best way I can begin to understand where everyone was coming from at that time, in every sense. Thanks,
