Bernard: John Huntington of 1766, Garstang, is my greatgrandfather Henry Huntington's grandfather. We knew about Henry as a husband with a family of his own in Salford, and posted him on genesreunited. I contacted a person who had documentation of a Henry as a boy and I have been able to verify he is the one and the same. She told me about Henry's parents (William and Agnes) and William's parents (John and Jenny). You have probably been in touch with her yourself, or, as I did, verified the info on www.familysearch.org, and also by getting copies of original filmed documents (I have William's marriage record of 1830, and John's of 1791, both St. Helen's Church of England, Garstang). I could not find John or Jenny's birth in the St. Helen's records - looked for John 1765-1767, Jenny 1769-1771. I have seen the marriages of Ann H. to William Armer, and Thomas H. to Mary Cottam in the IGI. Since you are a direct descendant of Thomas, you can probably verify that this is the correct marriage for the correct Thomas, but do we have a way of confirming that the Ann who married William Armer is his sister? In the IGI on familysearch there is a christening record for Jenney Dicconson, 14 Apr 1771, Eccleston with Douglas, Lancashire, parents Richard Dicconson and Mary. I was given Jenny's last name as spelled this unusual way, but on her marriage record it is Dickinson, so now I'm not sure I should follow up on this info. I would be happy to work with you in finding out more info about John and Jenny and their parents and children. I have not heard from the genesreunited person for some time, but what she gave me I found also on the computer and on the filmings. Somewhere along the line, though, I have a note that Ann H. died in infancy, which does not tally with her marriage. Would like to sort all this out with you if you have time to collaborate. Many thanks for contacting me. Sheila W., Florida.
