I am without my notes at the present, but want to give a quick response.
My interest is the Cook line in the Snow Creek area ca 1767-1800's (Halifax/Pittsylvania/Henry/Franklin Counties of VA).
There is a close association of my 7th great GF John Cook and his children with the Hutchesons, that likely began when they were in the Raleigh Parish area of Amelia Co pre-1767. Charles died, Sarah Estes (also of Amelia pre-1767) moved to Pittsylvania ca 1771, many deeds and legal cases with my Cooks. This ancestor John Cook paid bail to keep Sara out of jail in a lawsuit against her new neighbor Sam Patterson in 1771-2.
There does to have been 2 William Cooks in pittsylvania/henry Co (Snow Creek) at the same time. A Billy Hutcheson (that is how most of the documents describe him) married catherine Cook in 1796. I cannot for the life of me find her parents, but I have decent theories. Billy Hutcheson gave the guardianship of his (from memory) 6 children to my 6th great grandfather's brother William Cook who was living in Jasper Co, GA in 1814...I have the documents. Why a guy in Jasper Co, GA would assume responsibility for the guardianship of kids in Franklin Co, VA is a mystery; perhaps their mother had just died.
I am not an expert in the Hutcheson family, but am very acquainted with the Cook family there. I am familiar with deeds from Ambrose, Philip and the like. I had assumed Billy to be Charles and Sarah Estes Hutcheson's son, but I cannot jive this with the apparent William who left after the war for TN.
I can assure you that a Billy Hutcheson is in the 1799 Franklin Co tax list, and that his guardian records show him living in Franklin Co in 1814 with 6 kids; I haven't pursued other records in that county for the Hutchesons after that dates, perhaps he was still there.
