I need help following Hugh Harrison of Argyle, Washington County, New York, and possibly Brooklyn, New York, in the public record.
Here is what I have on Hugh Hutchinson. The connection between Hugh Hutchinson and Alexander Hutchinson his proposed father has not been made.It is not proven.I put them together only because they share the same last name and because theya re both in Washington County, New York.
"Hugh Hutchinson was a trustee for school dist #15 (Lick Springs) for 22 Feb 1839."(Susan Brennan, Historian of Argyle, letter, 31 January 2012.)So we can assume that in 1840 he was living in the area of Argyle, Washington County, New York.
Not in the area is this man: 1840 Wheatland, Monroe County, New York H. Hutchinson with nine people total
In the same town of Wheatland is a Sarah Hutchinson as head of household, not a daughter of Alexander, as far as I know.
Perhaps he and Sarah are connected despite living in separate home, perhaps brother and sister, or brother and sister-in-law.
1850 can't find him(He is not the man in Philadelphia.)
1860 can't find him
HUGH HUTCHINSON IN BROOKLYN Hugh's mother was Mary Harrison Hutchinson. The extended Harrison family has many members in Brooklyn. Here is aHugh Harrison in Brooklyn, this NYC man would have been born about 1825 and it says erroneously, Scotland [rather than the more likely Ireland or New York].
1870 Brooklyn ward 15, New York Hugh Hutchinson 45 Scotland, manufacturer of mats Elizabeth Hutchinson 31 keeping house, born Connecticut Eliza Hutchinson 9 attends school, born New York Mary Hutchinson 5, attends school, born New York Grace Hutchinson 2, attends school, born New York John Hutchinson 2/12 born New York Bridget Burton 31 domestic servant (ancestry.com accessed 7 February 2012.)
I am interested in finding him in the 1850 and 1860 census.Plus I would like to follow his children Eliza, Mary, and Grace as far as married names go.Do you have any more information on this Hutchinson family?Thank you for your work.
