My aunt Minnie Hyden Milliken and cousin Marjorie Evans recently sent me some materials on the Hydens, including copies of property acquisitions and transfers on Wallens Ridge, overlooking Bigstone Gap. My grandfather William Crockett Hyden (greatgrandson of Isaac Hyden) was born in the area. While looking through the papers, I became interested in taking a closer look at the Hydens' neighbors on Wallens Ridge (where Daniel Hyden, Richard and Lucy Alsop, and William Hyden all owned property, among others) because I knew from previous thumbing through documents that a Hall family lived on Wallens Ridge. These were Mary Crank Hall and John Hall, who raised eight children in the area. Their youngest son Daniel married into the Crabtrees (Malinda). Malinda's father and grandfather, Job and Jacob Crabtree, bought land from William and Richard Hyden. James Goff Hyden owned the property adjacent to Job Crabtree. My point in this is that these people and several Hydens knew each other and lived close by. John and Mary Hall had daughters born in 1815 and 1818 (among other children). I have been able to narrow down that one of those two daughters was named Polly. I have not been able confirm whether Polly was born in 1815 or 1818 or what the name of the other sister is. I wanted to ask the readers of this forum if they had investigated this particular Polly Hall as possibly being Isaac Hyden's wife. I have written to one of Daniel Hall's descendants, but he doesn't have any more information than I have given above. Perhaps someone else will have some information that may enable me either to discount this person or to investigate further. I have also written to one of the Crank genealogists and will report back if there is any further information one way or the other. Thank you for your help.
And, as an aside (with no relevance to the above, I assume), Daniel Hall's daughter Darcas Virginia Hall married Samuel Benjamin Hyden.
