I am not researching this family but did find quite a bit of their genealogy in my 1886 set of books "The History of the Susquehanna and Juniata Valleys" - Volume II, Perry County Section. All spellings are as they appear in the book. This was found in the New Bloomfield section of the books.
Dr. Jonas Ickes, born Feb 3, 1792 in Limerick Twp, Montgomery County, Pa, moved to near Ickesburg in 1795.He died after age 94 in Illinois (while living with his daughter Susan Ickes Harding).Dr. Jonas Ickes married in 1814, Mary Duncan.Their children were: Susan (who married General Harding of Illinois), Nicholas, Joseph D. B.(born June 20, 1823 near Duncannon, became a Physician and died on Duncan's Island June 28, 1851.), Elizabeth, Henrietta, Isabella, Alfred, Maria, and Samuel.According to the book (published in 1886, but written in the early 1880's), only 4 of the children were still living at the time the book was written. One of the daughters married in 1851 Dr. Joseph Eby (Nov 4, 1830 - Mar 11, 1872) and they had 2 children: a son who died at age 4 and a daughter who married Gibson Fickes of Newport, Perry, Pa.
