Randall Iden Homestead, Quakertown, PA, SOLD
I recently made a visit to the Randall Iden Homestead in Quakertown, PA.This is the house built by Randall Iden, the grandson of the Randall Iden that the title of the book "The Sons and Daughters of Randall Iden" is the subject of.The house was built in 1799.
The bad news is that the house will no longer be as it has been. The 85 acres and the house have been bought be a local doctor and his wife and is in the process of being renovated into a horse farm for show horses. As of August a stable for 7 horses was almost completed and the house was next on the renovations list. The caretaker of the site told us that the present house it to become a minor portion of a much larger house. The present stone work is to be removed and replaced with stonework identical to that which was incorporated in the stable.
I left my name, address, etc., with the caretaker and asked that the owners contact me but I haven't heard anything from them.
I did take some photos of the house as it now is (prior to renovation). It hasn't changed much from the photo in the book but if anyone is interested I am willing to e-mail a sampling of them.
