This family also from Champaign Co.,OH. Said by the family of Henry (which was German) to be of English ancestry. James and Margaret McCarty married in Champaign Co.,OH, 21 Feb. 1822. Son George and I believe Moses is his brother, went to Fountain County,IN (I have friends in Lafayette and Noblesville, IN descended from this family--the Ohio connection makes it even more interesting to me, but I do not relate to this family that I know of).
George married 4 times (the last when 73 years old!), Susan C(h)roninger, Elizabeth Carter (had children by both),Rhoda Custer, and Nancy Tyler. His son by Susan,James H. Idle who married Margaretta Angeline Clark is the ancestor of my friends in Lafayette,IN, and ancestor of most of the Tippecanoe County Idles.
James and Angeline had children:
1-Carl J., born Jun 1882, married Myrtle L. Tyler and whose descendants changed the spelling to IDELE
2-William C. born 18 Mar.1884, married and lived Frankfort,IN
3-Clinton M.,born Sept 1885, married Ida L. Burkhardt (whose pedigree and descendants are in the World Family Trees by Broderbund)
4-Mary B., born 16 Feb 1889, who had twin sons by Grover Steadman who never married her, her son Sherman William Idle who married Viola Byers and having 12 children being the ancestor of my friends through several of his children.
5-James Archibald (Archie), born 15 Oct 1891 and married to Lillie M. Barfell, several children.
6-George Reuben, born 31 May 1894-I believe this is the one who died while helping to cut a road.
7-I'm told they had a daughter Ruby, but I know nothing more at this time about her.
I am looking for other descendants besides the ones I know personally and the ancestors of James and Margaret. When George moved to IN, in the 1850 census, Fountain Co.,IN, Davis Twp., he is listed with wife Susan, Dwelling 684,Family 696. Same dwelling, Family 697, is Margaret Murphy, age 42,born NC, Moses V. Idle, 17,male, laborer, born OH, and John D. Brown, 8, male, born Iowa?IN?
I believe this Margaret is his mother in a second marriage and Moses is his brother. While highly likely I have not found documentary proof, nor whether and where James Idle is buried in Champaign Co.OH. Looking for proof and other family connections. Also who is this John D. Brown?
Will trade any information and records I have.
