My father, Frank Iglar, was born in Frydman.I visited the village when I was a child and would like to visit with my children someday.I have been researching my family history and all of the different Iglar families from Frydman for about 20 years.
I would be happy to share the information I have about whom I believe are your ancestors.
I believe your ancestors are Jozef Iglar and Maria Szostak. Here is what I have about them:
1. JOZEF IGLAR was born in 1859 or 1860 in Fridman, Spiš, Slovakia, Hungary.Jozef Iglar married MARIA SZOSTAK (SUSTAK or STOSTAK) on 30 January 1884 when he was twenty-four (24) years old and she was nineteen (19).Maria Szostak was bornin 1864 or 1865.At the time of their marriage, Jozef Iglar lived at house #59 and Maria Szostak lived at house #49.
The children of JOZEF IGLAR and MARIA SZOSTAK were: i. NICOLAUS IGLAR (This is Mikolaj), b. 1884 in Fridman, Spiš, Slovakia, Austria-Hungary. ii. ELIZABETHA IGLAR, b. 20 September 1886 in Fridman #59, Spiš, Slovakia, Austria-Hungary; d. 7 September 1887. iii. MARTIN IGLAR, b. 27 October 1888 in Fridman #59, Spiš, Slovakia, Austria-Hungary. iv. JAKUB IGLAR, b. 23 April 1895 in Fridman #56, Spiš, Slovakia, Austria-Hungary; d. 25February1896. v. MARIA IGLAR, b. 8 August 1900 in Fridman, Spiš, Slovakia, Austria-Hungary vi. STEFAN IGLAR, b. 5 August 1902 in Fridman #59, Spiš, Slovakia, Austria-Hungary.
Martin Iglar (# iii above) married one of my Brincka ancestors so I am related to this family through my grandmother Margaret Brincka--not through my Iglar ancestors as far as I can tell.
I would be interested in particular about trying to find out about earlier generations to see how this family connects to either my Iglar family or the other Iglar families.
Is it possible for you to check the metryki in the St. Stanislaw parish? Is Father Wegrzyn still the priest?
Could you possibly ask him to check or ask him to allow you to look at the metryki to try to find the birth record of Jozef Iglar who was probably born in 1859 or 1860, probably in house #59?
Please email me and I will see if I can help you with any more information.I have been studying my ancestors and the village for a very long time and am always interested in this research.
