Still cannot connect him to a parent.I will have to look at the 1850 census.Right now, I do not have a subscription to Ancestry but plan on getting it soon. I believe that in some census, John P. Ijams may be listed as John T. Ijams. This I must check out. Just when you think you have found most of the surnames, you are hit again with new names.
I have found a John P. Ijams b. abt 1837 in Maryland living in Luzerne Wilkes Barre, Pa. in 1870 with a wife Adelaide age 28 b. Pa. and two children. In 1880, he is living in Brooklyn, Kings, New York City, Greater, New York. Both census states he was a Clerk in Office. Then in 1880, I have a John P. Ijams born about 1833 in Md with a wife deceased who is a builder. This family likes the name of Plummer as a first or second name.I keep looking for these individuals
I have Woodring, Wotring in my husband's line. William H. Abbott s/o of William Abbott and Catherine Hausknecht married Susannah Woodring d/o Daniel Wotring and Susanna Horner, in 1836 in Shelby Co., Ohio.William was born in Northampton Co., Pennsylvania. I go back to Abraham Wotring born in France about 1700. Some of his children were born in Germany and Pennsylvania.
