Here's the deed in question, which proves that this Richard Ijams who m. Elizabeth ___ who m. later John Cheney was NOT the Richard Ijams Sr. and his second wife Elizabeth, but one of the two younger Richards in the next generation, but which one?
This Indenture made the sixteenth day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and Fifty Acres Between John Cheney and Elizabeth his wife of Annll County Planter of the one Part and William Chapman of London Town in the said County Merct of the other Part Witnesseth that the said John Cheney and Elizabeth his wife for and in Consideration of One hundred twenty six Acres of Land lying in Annll County afsd. by Deed instant by the said William Chapman to the said John Cheney and Elizabeth his wife wherewith they are fully Content and Satisified have Remised Released and forever Quit Claimed and by these presents do clearly and absolutely Remise Release andfor ever Quit Claim unto the said William Chapman his heirs and assigns All and all manner of Dower Right and title of Dower whatsoever which she the Said Elizabeth now hath may might should or of right ought to have or claim to One hundred and Eleven Acres of Land lying in Annll County called Burgess' choice or Iiams last Purchase or by any other Name or Description the same may be known by means of the said Elizabeth her intermarrying with a Certain Richard Iiames and all manner of actions and Writts of Dower whatsoever so as neither they the said John and Elizabeth or either of them nor any other Person for or in the names of them the said John and Elizabeth or either of them any Dower or writt of Dower or any Right or title of Dower in or to the said One hundred and Eleven Acres of Land or any Part or Parcel thereof at any time hereafter shall or may have rclaim or Prosecute against the said William Chapman his heirs and assigns but of and from the same shall be utterly debarred and forever excluded by these presents In Witness whereof the said John and Elizabeth have hereunto set their hands and Seals the day and year above Writtenhis Sealed and Delivered in the Presence ofJohn I Cheney(seal) JMouatmark
