Thanks for responding.
The Birdie Ilgenfritz you noted is myg-grandmother. She was b. in Mo. ca. 1874, She married Edward George Stewart in Adair cty., Mo. ca. 1892. She died in Milwaukee, wi. , aug. 1936.
Her father appears to be John Ilgenfritz, b. 1833, Oh. He d. Apr. 1896 in Ia., although he's buried in adair Cty., Mo. He m. Catharine Thrash on Nov., 1861 in Jefferson Cty., Ia.
It took me a long time to find Birdie (or Berdie). Her husband, EGS, died in 1920. She remarried a man named "Wrightsman" shortly thereafter, and they moved to Wisconsin. They subsequently were divorced.
I knew nothing about her until a few years ago, including her name( s ). My grandmother, Emma Stewart Alexander was her eldest child. She only mentioned that the family was extremely poor, requiring Berdie to work full time. EGS was frequently ill.
