Imes/Iames/James

By Ruby January 16, 2005 at 07:17:59

I have recieved from Columbiana Ohio a copy of the marriage registration for Andrew Grace and Charity James. The handwriting of John B. Finley, the minister recording the marriage information makes it extremely difficult to tell whether the name is James or Iames. His I's and J's are remarkably similiar in two entires by Finley next to each other. So anyone researching the parents of Charity would do well to check all spellings. Although apparently no one has had any luck with either spelling. Anyone interested in a copy of the certificate to explore this themselves can e-mail me and request a copy. As long as it isn't in the dozens of requests I'll foot the postage.
By the way, the response from Columbiana was so rapid (less than 2 weeks)I could barely believe it. That coupled with the cost for the copy (25 cents) puts Columbiana Ohio high on my list for helpfulness.
