ROCHESTER - Dorothy Jean Ingels, 72, of Rochester passed away Monday, June 27, 2011, at her home.
She was born on Oct. 4, 1938, in Auburn to John D. and Bessie P. (Fraley) Engelman. She married Ronald L. Ingels on Oct. 26, 1957 at South Side Church of Christ in Springfield. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother.
Dorothy was a member of Rochester Christian Church where she served as president of the Friendship Circle. She enjoyed her Sunday school class and bible study group. She cherished the time spent with her family. She was an Illini Basketball fan and an avid shopper.
She is survived by her husband, Ronald; daughters, Linda (George) Merschman of Rochester and Michelle Casad of Chatham; 5 grandchildren, Ashley and Kaitlyn Merschman and Stone, Storm and Skye Casad; 2 sisters, Velma Swick of Springfield and Virginia Stone of Edinburg; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 5 until 7 p.m. Thursday, June 30, 2011, at Vancil-Murphy Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home at 10 a.m. Friday, July 1, 2011, with Pastor Mike Jakaitis officiating. Burial will follow in Rochester Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Asbury Children's Supper Hour or to Rochester Christian Church.
