Possible Ingleby of Ripley / Gainsborough connection
We may have identified the source of the Gainsborough Ingleby's. Refer to my recent posting in response to Richard Ripley's contribution: it's long and the first bit doesn't relate to your forum, but everything from the history of Ripley castle onwards is more relevant. Richard Ripley has identified a marriage between Thomas Ingleby (born 1595, younger brother of Sir Wiilam Ingilby of Ripley Castle) and Judith Huddleston of Grimoldby, Lincs. Thomas had connections with Caenby, Lincs, through his mother, the former Cecilia Talboys and ultimately Cecilia Tourney. Looking at my road map, Caenby and Gainsborough aren't far apart.
Fingers crossed that Richard Ripley can come up with some more details of the marriage, and the offspring from it.
