Hi, Blake,
I finally have a lead to pass on to you. If you look in www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk for Grissell Davidson you will find Grace. Grissell is a Scotish nickname for Grace. She was christened in Canongate Church in Edinburgh, 17 Jun, 1750. Her parents were Archibald Davidson and Janet Balderston. I haven't found who their parents were yet. I also have not gotten any "official" documentation of this yet. However, several other genealogy search engines such as the IGI confirm this. I'll let you know more as I find it.
Also, William was christened in Abercorn Parish in West Lothian on 15 Sept, 1749. His dad was also William according to the record, but I don't know yet which William. There is a William who was christened in Cramond Parish (Edinburgh) in 1714 who was married to a "Jonet" - this is a possiblility for our American William's father. His mom was Janet Savage, and her Dad was John Savage from Eddelstone parish in Peebles.
I hope to keep tracing the family back to their origins in Douglas, Scotland.
