Hello Lynda, You are right, the name derives from 600 years or so ago when "Englishes" moved north across the border. The "correct" way to pronounce this name is "Ing-ulz". (Just like the family on "Little house on the Prairies" with Michael Brandon. There is even a part of Edinburgh called Ingliston (locally pronounced "Ing-ulz-ton"). I was born in Scotland and migrated to Australia 30 years ago. A few weeks ago I started a web page - please have a look (http://www.octa4.com.au/grji/welcome.html).
