Ebenezer Inglis (1772- ) was born in Cambusnethan, Lanarkshire, Scotland. He may have been born as late as 1778 as the census data is not consistent. He married Janet Smith in 1802 and they had six children; William (1804- ), Janet (1810- ), John (1811- ), Ann (1818- ), Ebenezer (1820- ) and Thomas (1825- ).Ebenezer farmed a 134 acre farm known as Keppelhill. He must have died before 1861 as his oldest son William is listed on the 1861 census as head of household and farmer of Keppelhill.
I suspect that Keppelhill may have become a coal or iron mine as the only reference to Keppelhill I can find on the internet is the 1916 report of a serius accident at the Keppelhill Pit.
"John Sloan, residing at Cowan's Land, while at the dook in Keppelhill Pit a large stone fell on him and he was severely injured about his back." [Airdrie & Coatbridge Advertiser 25 March 1916]
